War of the Buttons

The children of Ballydowse and Carrickdowse fight battles in which they cut off their captured opponents' buttons, shoelaces, and underwear. This is done in order to get the boys in trouble with their parents. They fight in groups of dozens, throwing stones and cutting off their opponents' buttons, among other things. And occasionally, they go into battle completely naked and exposed. In one such scene, 30 boys return from a battle to celebrate their victory at a barn-house only to find some girls waiting for them, and they are embarrassed at losing their privacy.
