After a tough time as a single parent in West Texas, Leslie wins the jackpot and gets a second shot. But in just a few short years, all of the money was gone, and now Leslie is on her own, living fast and hard at the bottle's bottom while she continues to run from the world she left behind because of her heartbreak. Leslie goes home after exhausting her charisma and finding herself socially isolated. Sweeney, a lonely motel employee, takes a chance when no one else will because she has been rejected and unwelcome by those she has offended. Through his encouragement, Leslie is able to confront the repercussions of her past decisions, the guilt she feels for her son's sake, and the opportunity to start over.
