Early in life, Josephine Malone discovered the hard way that she could only love and trust one person: her grandmother, Lydia Malone. Josephine adopted a masquerade out of need, unintentionally and quite efficiently, to keep others at distance. She lived on the outskirts of the fashion and music elites, but she kept her distance. While Josephine was traveling the world, Lydia was living in the same tiny town as retired boxer Jake Spear. Jake was unmistakable. Including the fact that he has a history of making poor choices regarding whom to give his love. However, there was one individual who adored Josephine and Jake. One individual who was capable of guiding them to happiness. And one individual who was determined to do so. Even if it meant fulfilling her final wish on this planet.
