The Last Days on Mars
On the final day of the first manned mission to Mars, a Tantalus Base crew member believes he has made an incredible discovery – fossilized evidence of bacterial life. Unwilling to let the relief crew take all the credit, he defies orders to pack up and embarks on an unauthorized expedition to collect additional samples. However, a routine excavation becomes a disaster when the porous ground collapses and he falls into a deep crevice, near death. His bereaved coworkers attempt to recover his body. When another disappears, they begin to suspect that the life-form they have discovered is not without danger.
