Polish territory had been occupied by the Nazis since World War II. An ex-student turned SS officer at Auschwitz-Birkenau, Hans is now a great officer in the SS. As he is ordered to design an efficient gas chamber by his superior commander, Hans comes to grasp the gravity of the horrific actions to which he is an accomplice.
