Sophie is kidnapped from her orphanage early one morning by the BFG (Big Friendly Giant), whom she watches engaging in unusual behavior. She is quickly reassured when she discovers that the BFG's job is to collect, catalog, and deliver children's pleasant dreams. She joins him that night, but they are pursued by a pack of vicious giants bent on devouring the world's young.
