Spare Parts
Four Hispanic kids, with the assistance of their high school's newest instructor, create a robotics club. They intend to compete in a national robotics competition despite the fact that they have no prior experience. Making do with only $800 and parts salvaged from abandoned automobiles, they construct a robot that will take on MIT, the current world champion in the field. Aside from learning how to build a robot, the students also gain valuable life skills, such as how to form friendships that will last a lifetime with their classmates.
