After the destruction of Custer and the 7th Cavalry by Native Americans, everyone anticipates the worse. Capt. Nathan Brittles is summoned out on patrol, but he is also compelled to remove for their own protection Abby Allshard, wife of the fort's commanding officer, and her niece, the beautiful Olivia Dandridge. Olivia has drawn the attention of two young officers in the Company, Lt. Flint Cohill and 2nd Lt. Ross Pennell, as Brittles approaches retirement.
