Psycho
The Bates Motel, which has its own dark secrets, welcomes a young female embezzler. Despite the fact that this version is in color, has a different cast, and is set in1998, it is closer to a shot-for-shot remake than most remakes, with Gus Van Sant frequently imitating Hitchcock's camera movements and editing, and Joseph Stefano's writing being substantially carried over. The musical soundtrack by Bernard Herrmann is also used, albeit with a fresh arrangement by Danny Elfman and in stereo.
