Perfumed Nightmare
Tahimik describes the village's daily routines in voiceover. Voice of America programs fascinate him, especially the space program. He forms the Werner von Braun fan group to become part of the developed world. An American attending a canceled international conference gets his chance. To run his street gumball machine in Paris, the American invites him. He meets people in Paris and Germany and learns that progress in the industrialized world undermines values. Resigning from his position as leader of the Werner von Braun fan group, he insists on finding his own way in the face of advancement.
