Jerry Day, a young freewheeling wanderer, and his lovely wife Toni have disagreements over how they should live their lives. Jerry is unable to take responsibilities, whilst Toni longs for a family and a life that is more routine. After that, Jerry's young daughter Pennie, who had been living with the wealthy family of his late wife, is "rediscovered" by the Days. Pennie seems to be exactly what Jerry needs to repair his ways of swindling and lead a more honest life. Jerry is lured by the corruptible influence of jewelry thief Felix Evans despite the duty of his new family. When Jerry is persuaded to take a job by Evans, the stability of his brand new family life is put in jeopardy.
