When a cab driver is assigned to bring a "comrade" back to the East German side of the Berlin wall, he accidentally ends up in the middle of the Devil and the deep blue sea. A cab driver named Herbie is hired by the KGB and East German Intelligence to help them find out who killed the man in the back seat of his cab. He is hired by the CIA and West German Intelligence to be a counterspy after he arrives on the West German side of the divide. He is paid twice what the other side is paying him. A therapist helps Herbie because there doesn't seem to be any other way out of this mess, and so he goes to see one. He gets a small bottle to sniff when he needs to boost his confidence from her bag of tricks. This is an act that is sure to make him the winner in any situation. Now, Herbie is a cab driver, a KGB agent, a CIA agent, and a bottle-sniffer. He's also in love with his therapist, who is very pretty.
