The Tokugawa shogunate's seventh shogun, the Yunagaya Domain in the Tohoku region, is a minor han at the time. Gold can be found in the han, however. Naito receives an instruction to execute Sankin-kotai within the next five days from the lord of Yunagayo Domain. This tradition necessitates that the daimyo pay a visit to Edo's shogun in order to fulfill. It's very bad Masaatsu Naito won't have enough time to see the shogun in Edo before he dies. According to Naito, the gold mine was sought after by a high-ranking government figure. Sankin-kotai costs a lot of money, and the Yunagaya Domain is so small that it's impossible to finish. In spite of this, Masaatsu Naito sets out to complete Sankin-kotai in just five days.
