Wolf (Donnie Yen) is a battle veteran who tells a young upstart killer the story of his famous youth (Edmond Leung). In the post-World War II era, the young Wolf (Yen) is lost in the Chinese countryside, searching for his missing memories. He is only aware of a meeting at an abandoned temple. He eventually makes contact with a peasant (Dayo Wong), who agrees to guide the Wolf to his destination. They meet Wai-Yee (Carmen Lee) on the way, who has been waiting for Wolf for quite some time. Wolf, on the other hand, has no memory of anything until the evil people (headed by Ben Lam) come looking for him and bring with them the horrific secret of the Wolf's history.
