Lady Snowblood
Because to the schemes of a gang of villains, Yuki's family comes perilously close to being wiped out before she is even born. These vicious thugs abduct her mother and beat her severely, but they do not kill her. Later on, her mother was sentenced to prison, and the only thing that kept her alive was the need for retribution. By doing so on purpose, she gives herself a tool with which to carry out this act of retribution. Yuki is never shown the love of a family; all he is taught is violence and vengeance.
