Wu Di, a young cobbler, lives with his mother and is in love with martial arts picture books. One day, he fixes the shoe of Yuelou, a wandering swordswoman. Later, he helps save her from Tian Baguang, even though he doesn't know how to fight. To him: She tells him that her life is due to him. She can be found on Qin Mountain. There was a princess named Yuelou, but she didn't want to marry the emperor. She set fire to her palace quarters, and then ran away from home. On his way, Wu Di fights river pirate Dugu and his sidekick, and meets a Buddhist monk who wants to teach him. He is in love with her, and so he goes to find her. When Yuelou plans on competing in a martial arts tournament, she doesn't know that the emperor has hired Penal Bureau officer Yang Guo to protect her and help her win the tournament so he can give her the prize and get her to reconsider marriage.
