Jesse Stone is a former Los Angeles homicide detective who left the big city and his ex-wife behind to become the police chief of Paradise, a small New England fishing town known for its lobster. Indulging in his two favorite things—scotch and women—old Stone's habits are still alive and well. When a series of murders occur, including the rape of a high school student, he is compelled to confront his personal demons in order to solve the crimes. And, because these are the first murders to take place in Paradise, Jesse must also instruct his inexperienced crew of police officers who will be assisting in the investigation in order to discover the killers and the rapist before they can carry out another attack.
