Police Chief Jesse Stone, a former homicide detective in Los Angeles, now oversees the tranquil beach community of Paradise, Massachusetts. When the facts in a terrible Boston-area murder case don't fit up, Jesse embarks on an investigation full of twists and turns, odd suspects, and grave peril. Though it's widely assumed that the murder was carried out by an incarcerated serial killer, Jesse believes that another assailant is still at large and is hell-bent on apprehending him.
