Hubble's Cosmic Journey

This is your portal to the cosmos...... Hubble was launched in April 1990 by the Space Shuttle Discovery. Its launch into orbit over 500 km above the Earth was the start of one of humanity's biggest dreams: to send a telescope into space, high above the Earth's atmosphere, to get the clearest possible view of the universe. But in the months that followed, it became clear that the dream had turned into a nightmare, as Hubble's mirror was found to have a flaw. Three years of heartache and a lot of human will were needed to set up a rescue mission to fix the problem. The results were amazing and gave us the most complete view of the Universe we've ever had. This is the narrative of the team who designed, built, maintained, and operated the world-famous Hubble space telescope.
