Ray Livingston is the creator of Brooklyn's infamous blog, "Occasionally Dating Black Women," as well as a relationship-blogging hack ("freelance writer, actually"). Ray is chafing from an overextended stay in New York, romantic ennui, and a stagnant writing career, despite the well-written, if not provocative, blog. He goes on a rant and harasses a stunning random pedestrian after a particularly bad week, only to realize that it's Rochelle Marseille, one of New York's up-and-coming authors. Ray is surprised when Rochelle gives him more than he expected in an effort to maintain his media clout.
