Mia (Duff), the dedicated and hardworking manager of her tiny town's Christmas hat business, is taken completely by surprise when her long-time boss (whom she has known for over 10 years) asks her to train his son, Nick (Cupo), for a vacant upper-management post that Mia had been eyeing up for months. Despite the fact that Nick is a gorgeous and wealthy New York City business consultant, Mia finds training him to be a difficult experience. That is, until Nick takes an interest in Mia's son Scotty and assists Scotty in a pumpkin carving contest. As a result of Nick's failure to appear at the contest, Mia's confidence in him swiftly wanes. Mia tries to keep Nick out of her and Scotty's fragile existence in order to protect her son from additional heartbreak, while Nick must decide whether staying in the little village of Wilsonville is worth giving up the privileges of living in the big city he formerly enjoyed in New York. During Mia's battle to get Scotty to go back to physical therapy in order for him to regain his ability to walk, she discovers that Nick may be the Christmas miracle she has been hoping for all this while.
