A young man is involved in an affair with an older woman. He is envious of her husband and decides that they should assassinate him. They strangle the husband and dump his body down a well one night after he had a lot of sake and was in bed. To allay any suspicions, she pretends her husband has gone to work in Tokyo. The wife and her lover have been secretly seeing each other for three years. Finally, people start gossiping because their suspicions have grown so strong. To make matters worse, her husband's ghost starts haunting her, and the police arrive to investigate her husband's disappearance.
