Bill Cage, a major who has never experienced a day of combat, is abruptly demoted and sent into battle. Within minutes, Cage is dead, and he manages to take an alpha alien with him. As a result of his physical contact with the alien, he awakens at the beginning of the same day and is forced to fight and die repeatedly... and repeatedly.
