Marshal Frank Patch is an old-fashioned cop in a modern-day Texas town of Cottownwood Springs. When he defends himself against a drunken Luke Mills, the local officials decide it's time for change. And the municipality had offered him the job for as long as he wanted it, so Patch refused to resign. Believing Marshal Patch knows all of the town's dark secrets, the city fathers conclude that only old-fashioned violence would get rid of him.
