American short topic documentary film in black-and-white, directed by Stanley Kubrick. Kubrick produced and directed the film, which was based on a 1949 photo piece he shot for Look magazine. 'Day of the Bout' depicts Irish-American middleweight Walter Cartier on the day of his fight with black middleweight Bobby James on April 17, 1950.
