Cross of Iron
German troops are fleeing from the Russian front in1943, decimated and demoralized. The aristocratic Captain Stransky and the daring Corporal Steiner find themselves at odds in the thick of the craziness. Stransky is the sole person who believes that the Third Reich is still immensely superior to the Russian military. A quivering coward who longs for the Iron Cross so that he might come back to Berlin as hero lurks behind his pretentious exterior, nevertheless When it comes to military medals, Steiner is the antithesis of his superiors: cynical, stubbornly non-conformist, and more concerned with the safety of his own men.
