Coyote Lake
Coyote Lake is a reservoir on the Rio Grande that is located along a notorious drug smuggling route known for cartel violence and inexplicable disappearances. Teresa and her seventeen-year-old daughter, Ester, run a boarding house on the lake where they habitually drug, rob, and drown unwary drug runners and human traffickers who stay the night. Teresa defends the killings to her daughter by telling that they are purging the world of bad people and saving the stolen money so that they may leave Coyote Lake and start over. Their grim routine is disrupted when they are kidnapped by two infiltrating cartel members.
