Allie, an Evergreen veterinarian, is resigned to spending Christmas with her long-distance boyfriend. She gets engine difficulties on her way to the airport, and Ryan, who is on his way to Florida with his daughter Zoe, stops to assist. Because they are certain they will never meet again, they ignore their attraction and split ways. Zoe wishes on a snow globe at the diner, and a storm appears to grant her desire.
