Bang the Drum Slowly
It's the tale of a New York professional baseball team and two of its stars. There is no doubt that Henry Wiggen is the team's top pitcher, but Bruce Pearson is the team's everyday catcher and a friend to all of his teammates. When Bruce was diagnosed with terminal cancer in the off-season, Henry, his sole genuine friend, vowed to be there for him in his final season with the team. Henry and his teammates struggle with Bruce's looming illness during the course of the season, while also working to make his final year memorable.
