When his partner is killed, challenging Irish investigator Eddie Ryan (Robert Duvall) vows to retaliate the fatality, whatever the price. As he starts deciphering hints, his behavior ends up being so shocking that he's obliged to kip down his badge, yet the experience only pushes him. Ryan ultimately discovers that his partner was caught up in a Puerto Rican gun-running plan masterminded by a scoundrel named Sugary food Willie (Henry Darrow), that wants to rouse war of independence.
