In the early 1960s, adolescent Adam Stafford (Cameron Bright) becomes enamored with his new neighbor Catherine Caswell (Gretchen Mol), a divorced free spirit. Stafford observes Caswell meeting with odd men, and against his parents' cautions, he begins working for her as a gardener. In the midst of allegations of her affair with President Kennedy, the two become close, but political intrigue involving her acquaintances soon erodes their relationship.
