Seth McArdle (Samuel Davis) is a senior in high school with an unusually packed schedule. Not only does he have to traverse the typical social and academic problems of high school, he also has to deal with his little twin sisters, who are acting as de facto parents in the absence of his deceased mother and deadbeat father. When the bank calls with a foreclosure notice, the pressure grows, and Seth's frustrations manifest themselves in numerous altercations with the school football team. Seth is sent to work after school with Abel, the quirky groundskeeper, by an enraged coach (Kevin Sorbo). Their relationship begins cold and rocky, but as they spend more time together, they discover they have more in common than either of them anticipated. The disadvantage is that they primarily partake in suffering and misery. On the plus side, God adores them.
