Because of her refusal to renovate the historic Majestic Playhouse in Briar Falls into a multiplex, architect Nell will spend this Christmas in Briar Falls with mixed emotions. The Playhouse has served as the location for their annual Christmas tableaux, which will now come to an end after a long and illustrious history in the community. Connor, the new theater owner, has a vision and views that are at odds with Nell's. This is Nell's first promotion, and she wishes she had not been selected for it. The Twelve Day Festival is an opportunity for the town's residents to introduce Connor to the traditions of Christmas, which Nell hopes would persuade him to reconsider his plans to modernize the Majestic Inn.
