After spending an unforgettable summer together, a nine-year-old boy speaks his heart to his best buddy. The boy and girl, accompanied by a devoted golden puppy, bury a time capsule of mementos and then part ways. Years later, in search of a new beginning, a man and a woman each return to the spot where they felt most at ease as children. However, a comic instance of mistaken identification forces them to compete for the same childhood memories, resulting in Christmas hijinks. For the sake of their happiness, they must uncover their shared history before utterly upending one another's life. Is a golden dog capable of guiding them home?
