Young Alexander DeLarge and his companions in a Britain of the not-too-distant future get their kicks from raping and assaulting anybody they choose. Beethoven's music is one of Alex's favorite things to listen to when he's not busy ruining other people's lives. Alex, who is currently serving time for a juvenile offense, is given the choice to submit to an intrusive treatment that will strip him of all of his personal agency by the state, which is anxious to crack down on juvenile crime. In a world where conscience is a commodity, is it possible for Alex to change his tune?
